TFO Kansas Fishing Derby
April 21 @ 07:00 - 16:00
I’m excited to announce the first annual The Fallen Outdoors Kansas fishing Derby at Wilson Lake Kansas. Sign in at 0700, weigh in at 1600. Followed by a cookout and award presentation for the top three finishers. This will be an all species fishing derby. Sign in and weigh in will be at Knotheads BaitShop. Sue is offering us a 10% discount on all purchases excluding beer, and giving us the use of her store for sign in and weigh in. I’m also in the process of working with the Hays Bass Association, Hell Creek Watersports, and the Wilson Lake Area Association on getting more guys out on the water.
If you have a boat and are coming, and have an extra seat for one of our brothers that’s without a boat message me and we will work on getting you teamed up together.
I have spare rods to loan out for the day if needed and I know that there’s people willing to assist with fishing licenses if it’s needed.
All state fishing creel limits and size limits will apply to the derby.
A couple of updates on the planning of the Derby:
1 KDWPT will block off however many campsites needed for this in Yarrow down in Otoe park. And it will be free for Veteran’s, Active Duty and their families. We need to let them know the Number needed around mid December.
2 Bring your kids! I will have prizes for the kids for most weight and for the biggest single fish.
3 I’m buying more stuff for door prizes and for the most combined weight and biggest single fish. If you have something to offer, message me and we’ll see what we can do.
4 Knotheads BaitShop is offering a 10% discount for all TFO members coming for the derby on everything except for beer. Huge thanks for everything Sue is doing to support us and make this a great event for all.
5 No boat? No problem! I have had several boat owners who aren’t veterans but want to help offer to captain their boats for you to get on the water.
6 After weigh in, we will have the prize presentation and thank the volunteer boaters, Wilson State Park, Knotheads, and any others who help us to have this. Burgers, dogs, potato salad pasta salad chips and soft drinks. If you want an adult beverage you can bring them. Just remember that state park rules are 3.2 in cans.
This is an all species fishing derby, all state and local regulations apply.
